The National People’s Party (NPP) strengthened its political footprint in Assam’s Dima Hasao district on Thursday with the formal induction of young leader Daniel Langthasa into the party.
Langthasa was welcomed into the NPP during a large public convention held at Dishru Field in Maibang, where the party’s national president and Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma, led the induction ceremony.

The programme was attended by NPP national working president James K. Sangma, Vice President Hemochandra Singh, Tipra Motha Party founder Pradyot Manikya Debbarma, former Nagaland minister Mmhonlumo Kikon, and several senior NPP leaders from across the Northeast.
Addressing the gathering, Conrad said Langthasa’s entry reflected increasing public trust in the NPP’s development-oriented agenda, which he said is rooted in safeguarding tribal identity, indigenous rights and inclusive growth.

He also emphasised the party’s focus on strengthening connectivity, creating opportunities for youth, and promoting balanced development across the region.

Reaffirming the NPP’s “One Northeast” vision, Conrad underlined the importance of inter-state cooperation and mutual respect for cultural diversity as foundations for shared progress.
Party leaders described the development as a significant boost for the NPP in Dima Hasao and expressed confidence that the party would expand its base by working closely with local leadership and grassroots aspirations.
The party also expressed gratitude to the people of Dima Hasao for their participation in the convention and reiterated its commitment to addressing the district’s developmental needs.
