Shillong: The Meghalaya Cabinet has amended the State Anthem by incorporating Pnar language in the lyrics.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma announced this after chairing the cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
CM Sangma said, “I am happy to announce that the cabinet has decided to amend the Meghalaya State Anthem and we are happy to include a few lines in Pnar in the State Anthem.”
The chief minister said that the new anthem will be unveiled at the upcoming Meghalaya Games in Jowai.
He said that the decision was made in consideration of recommendations received from several stakeholders, notably Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar of Jaintia Hills and the general public.
The state cabinet passed the Meghalaya School Service Rules 2025, designed to enhance promotion opportunities for Government LP School teachers.
“Past service rules limited the scope for promotions of LP School teachers, Assistant Teachers who would remain in the post for a long period,” the CM’s office stated on X.

Furthermore, the Cabinet also approved the implementation of the Meghalaya Town & Country Planning Scheme, facilitating collaborative planning, approval, and discussion among all stakeholders.
