Imphal: Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, who recently won silver at the Weightlifting World Championship in Colombia, on Wednesday met Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh and sought his blessings.
Saikhom Mirabai Chanu reached Imphal on Tuesday, and made it a point to meet the footballer-turned Manipur chief minister.
The champion weightlifter from Manipur gifted a jersey of the Indian contingent to the Weightlifting World Championship 2022 to the chief minister.
Saikhom Mirabai Chanu also showed the silver medal she won at the Weightlifting World Championships 2022 at Colombia recently.
N. Biren Singh has always been encouraging Saikhom Mirabai Chanu and other leading sports persons of the state. And in reciprocation, the sportspersons make it a point to meet him after winning medals and trophies.
The Manipur chief minister told Saikhom Mirabai Chanu to keep her fighting spirit alive for the years to come to win many more medals for India.
