Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh paid his last respects to veteran leader Vungzagin Valte at Medanta Hospital, where the former MLA had been undergoing treatment.
Soon after arriving in the national capital, the Chief Minister travelled to Gurugram and offered floral tributes at Valte’s mortal remains.
He stood in silence to pay homage and later met the bereaved family, expressing his condolences and solidarity during their time of grief.
A brief prayer service was also held, creating an atmosphere of collective mourning and remembrance.
A condolence meeting followed, attended by Manipur MLAs Khashim Vashum (Chingai AC) and Ngursanglur Sanate (Tipaimukh AC), family members, relatives, and prominent leaders of the Zomi community based in Delhi.

In his condolence message, Chief Minister Singh described Valte as a dedicated public servant and a respected leader who served three terms as MLA from Thanlon constituency.
He noted that Valte had been receiving prolonged medical treatment in New Delhi and Churachandpur, and was recently airlifted to the capital for advanced care with the support of the Manipur government.
“His passing is a great loss not only to his family and supporters but also to the people of Manipur,” the Chief Minister said, adding that Valte would be remembered for his commitment to public service and social welfare.
On behalf of the Government and the people of Manipur, Singh conveyed his deepest condolences and prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul.
Meanwhile, in honour of late Vungzagin Valte, the Governor of Manipur has ordered the observance of three days of State Mourning across the state from 22 to 24 February 2026.
During this period, the National Flag will be flown at half-mast throughout Manipur, and no official entertainment programmes will be held as a mark of respect to the departed leader.
