Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Sunday intensified his focus on development, directing state officials to accelerate infrastructure projects in Imphal’s key commercial zones and ensure their completion within fixed timelines.
Singh personally inspected ongoing road and renovation works at Thangal Bazar, one of the capital’s busiest trading centres, where he reviewed progress on infrastructure upgrades and market-area beautification.
He was accompanied by MLAs Khumukcham Joykisan and Nishikant Sapam, along with senior officials from the Public Works Department, the MAHUD Department, the Imphal Municipal Corporation and other concerned agencies.
During interactions on site, the chief minister stressed the need for coordinated execution and time-bound delivery of projects aimed at improving urban infrastructure and public convenience in the market area.
The visit came amid a series of high-level engagements by Singh since assuming office last week, as he moves to fast-track development initiatives across the state.
On Saturday, he chaired a major review meeting on Manipur’s economic revival strategy, with a special emphasis on promoting the Integrated Farming System (IFS).

Senior officials, including Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel, Additional Chief Secretary Vivek Kumar Dewangan and Commissioner to the Chief Minister N. Ashok Kumar, along with heads of agriculture, horticulture and soil conservation departments, attended the review.
Later in the day, the chief minister also met Naga hill leaders from Tamenglong and Noney districts, led by S. Kamei and L. Kamei, and held discussions on infrastructure-led development, while acknowledging their support for the government’s initiatives.
