In a decisive step towards government formation, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Parliamentary Board on Monday appointed party National General Secretary Tarun Chugh as the Central Observer for the election of the legislature party leader in Manipur.
The move indicates that the party is gearing up to reinstate an elected government before President’s Rule ends.
“The BJP Parliamentary Board has appointed Tarun Chugh, National General Secretary, as Central Observer for the election of the Legislature Party Leader in Manipur,” party national general secretary Arun Singh said in a statement.

It may be noted that, Senior leaders and legislators from the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), along with BJP’s Manipur unit chief, arrived in New Delhi on Sunday to attend a high-level meeting scheduled today.
BJP state president A Sharda Devi, Former Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Assembly Speaker Satyabrata Singh, and former minister Y Khemchand Singh were among other swho arrived at the national capital.
The meeting comes just days before the second term of President’s rule in the state is set to end.
Manipur has been under President’s Rule since February 13 last year, following the resignation of former Chief Minister N Biren Singh on February 9 amid threats of a no-confidence motion by legislators.
