Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Tuesday flagged off the “National Integration Tour 2025–26” at Assam Rifles, Keithelmanbi, calling it a reflection of unity among the diverse communities of the state.
The tour, organised by 33 Assam Rifles under Headquarters 9 Sector, will take 24 youths from Manipur to Imphal, Thiruvananthapuram, Kanyakumari, Mumbai and Kolkata from March 3 to March 13, 2026.
The participants include six youths each from the Meitei, Kuki, Naga and Meitei Pangal (Muslim) communities.
Addressing the gathering, the chief minister expressed satisfaction that the team represented an integrated Manipur, with members drawn from different communities living in the state.
He said such initiatives promote mutual understanding and national integration among young people.
Recalling the recent crisis in Manipur, Singh stated that over 47,000 people belonging to both Meitei and Kuki communities were relocated to safer areas by the Assam Rifles to ensure their safety and well-being.
He lauded the force for its swift and dedicated response during the difficult period.

The chief minister also appealed for reconciliation, stating that differences should not jeopardise the future of the younger generation.
He urged people to forgive and move forward collectively towards peace and development in the State.
An interactive session with the participants was held during the programme.
In a moment that drew attention, Singh addressed the Kuki youths in their dialect, asking, “Bu na neh tah am” (Have you eaten food), to which they replied, “Ka Ne Tai” (We have eaten food).
He encouraged all participants to make the most of the exposure tour and assured them of the government’s continued support.
As a symbolic gesture of unity, a group comprising one representative from each of the four communities was formed, and a flag was handed over to them to signify collective harmony and shared identity.
Kits were also distributed to the tour members.
Officials of the Assam Rifles introduced the chief minister to National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets from various communities, highlighting youth participation in fostering unity.
The event was attended by former Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Tarun Vijay, Brigadier Pratyush Kumar and students, among others.
