Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘Rising North East Investors Summit’ on Friday (May 23) at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
The summit is being organised with an aim to highlight the northeastern region as a land of opportunity, attracting global and domestic investment, and bringing together key stakeholders, investors, and policymakers on a single platform.
A short film focused on the developmental projects of the North Eastern Region was showcased at the summit.
Taking to X, PM Modi said, “This platform brings together key stakeholders from the world of business with the aim of boosting investments across the North East. Over the last decade, this region has scaled new heights of progress and emerged as an attractive investment destination.”
The Rising North East Investors Summit, a two-day event from May 23-24, is being organised by the central government with active support from the state governments of the Northeastern region.
The Summit includes ministerial sessions, Business-to-Government sessions, Business-to-Business meetings, startups, and exhibitions.
The exhibitions will showcase initiatives by central ministries and state governments to encourage investment in the region, alongside a platform for emerging startups to demonstrate innovation and potential.
The main focus sectors of investment promotion include Tourism and Hospitality, Agro-Food Processing and allied sectors, textiles, Handloom, and Handicrafts, healthcare, education and Skill Development, Information Technology or Information Technology-Enabled Services, infrastructure and Logistics, energy, and Entertainment and Sports.

The Rising North East Investors Summit is the culmination of various pre-summit activities, such as a series of roadshows, and states’ roundtables, including the Ambassador’s Meet and Bilateral Chambers Meet.
