Kohima: The grand finale of Fusion of Bands Season 3, organised by the Indian Army under Operation Sadbhavana, was held in Nagaland, highlighting the state’s rich musical talent while reinforcing themes of cultural harmony, youth engagement and social cohesion.

The event took place on Saturday at Bhagat Stadium, Rangapahar Military Station, and brought together talented bands from different parts of the state.

Organised under the aegis of the Spear Corps, the initiative is part of the Indian Army’s flagship outreach programme aimed at promoting youth empowerment, creative expression and national integration through music.

According to defence spokesperson Lt Col Mahendra Rawat, the finale showcased exceptional musical performances and reflected the Army’s continued efforts to foster goodwill and unity across Nagaland.

Acting Nagaland Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla attended the programme as chief guest, along with Lt Gen Abhijit S. Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding, Spear Corps, and former Nagaland chief minister and former governor S. C. Jamir.

Their presence, organisers said, underlined the role of music and culture in strengthening social bonds.

Six finalist bands representing various districts of Nagaland competed in the finale.

After an intense contest, Desi Rewind from Mokokchung emerged as the winner, securing the first prize of Rs. 3.5 lakh.

Jack in the Box from Dimapur claimed second place with a prize of Rs. 2.5 lakh, while NTTB–Nikato Tamang and the Band, also from Dimapur, finished third and received Rs. 1.5 lakh.

All finalist bands were awarded Rs. 30,000 each, while semi-finalists received ₹5,000 in recognition of their talent.

The competition was judged by a panel comprising noted musicians Akum Jamir, Bethel Tsuzu and Arenlong.

The evening was further enlivened by performances from guest artistes Agukath, Ahio Khieya and the Mahila Police Band, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

Lt Col Rawat said Fusion of Bands Season 3 concluded on a high note, reaffirming the Indian Army’s commitment to nurturing young talent, celebrating cultural diversity and strengthening civil–military relations in Nagaland.
