Guwahati: Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday joined the Chath Puja celebrations at Lachit Ghat and Sukleswar Ghat in Guwahati.
Sonowal offered his prayers – along with hundreds of worshippers – to the solar deity, the Sun – for the welfare and well-being of the people and society.
Speaking on the occasion, the union minister said, “Our rich history and heritage of more than five thousand years has given us the mantra of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ which has guided the world for so many years.”
Chhath is the celebration of India's 5000-year-old Sanatani Sabhyata. Blessed to join thousands of devotees at the Chhath Mahotsav at Lachit Ghat, Guwahati.

“Chath Puja is an inseparable part of Sanatan Dharma. I pray to the Sun God and Chath Maya that they bless everyone in the society with peace and happiness, prosperity, and good health. I bow my head to god for giving us the strength to commit to working towards the betterment of society and the country,” Sonowal said.
