Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday held a meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Dibrugarh to review arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Namrup on December 21.
The review meeting was attended by several ministers, MLAs and senior officials of the state government.
PM Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of an ammonia-urea plant.
In a post on X, CM Sarma said, “The upcoming Rs 12,000 cr Ammonia-Urea Plant in Namrup will be Assam’s industrial game-changer and boost Bharat’s fertiliser self-reliance.”
”Adarniya @narendramodi ji will lay the foundation stone of the project on 21st Dec. Visited Namrup this evening to review preparations,” he said.
The chief minister said the state is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a smooth and successful visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is set to gift Assam two major projects — the Guwahati Airport and the Namrup Ammonia-Urea Plant.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to begin a two-day visit to Assam from December 20. During his visit to the state, PM Modi will formally inaugurate the new terminal building of the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. He is also slated to unveil a statue of Assam’s first Chief Minister at Borjhar and address a public gathering in Guwahati.

The Namrup Ammonia-Urea Plant will be built at a cost of around Rs 12,000 crore. The 12.7 lakh metric tonne capacity plant is expected to be commissioned within three-and-a-half years.
