Aizawl: Mizoram Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister B. Lalchhanzova on Wednesday said the state government aims to ensure full home delivery of LPG cylinders in all district headquarters and notified towns by next year.

He said the system will be fully operational in all district headquarters by March 2026 and extended to notified towns by September.

In areas where home delivery is yet to begin, consumers currently take their empty cylinders to designated points, where gas agency workers provide refilled cylinders.

The minister said home delivery has already been implemented in five of the state’s 11 district headquarters—Aizawl Municipal Corporation area, Serchhip, Hnahthial, Mamit and Khawzawl.
“While the service has started in some of the remaining district headquarters, all will be fully covered by March next year. We are also targeting 100 per cent home delivery in all notified towns by September. The Supply Department, District Consumer Unions and IOCL are working together to achieve this,” he said.

Supply Director Saizikpuii said the state has over 20 notified towns, and priority will be given to those with LPG distributors.

The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has instructed distributors to clear all booking backlogs by December 13. Thereafter, online-booked refills must be delivered within two days, officials said.

Lalchhanzova assured that LPG supply will remain adequate during the festive season and urged churches to use commercial cylinders for celebrations.

He added that the government will continue efforts to provide free LPG connections to economically weaker households under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. So far, 36,031 families in Mizoram have received free connections. Families with an annual income below Rs 10,000 are eligible for the scheme, he said.
