Guwahati: Diganta Barah on Friday took over as the new commissioner of Guwahati Police.
The outgoing commissioner of Guwahati Police Harmeet Singh handed over the charge to Diganta Barah. Singh been transferred to the position of special director general of Assam Police (Administration).
Harmeet Singh, a 1992-batch IPS officer had taken over charge of Guwahati Police Commissioner on July 14, 2021.
At a simple function held at the office of the Guwahati Police Commissioner, Harmeet Singh handed over the charge to Diganta Barah.
Diganta Barah was holding the position of secretary, home and political department of Assam before taking over as the commissioner of Guwahati Police.
