GUWAHATI: Purabi Dairy, the largest dairy cooperative in Northeast, inaugurated a state-of-the-art prefabricated milk booth opposite Guwahati Zoo.
The booth, strategically located in front of Bora Market Complex and SK Hazarika College building, commenced operations on Tuesday.
Operated by West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Ltd (WAMUL), the booth offers a diverse range of dairy products, including fresh milk, lassi, curd, fresh cream, ghee, paneer, and the newly-introduced Purabi ice-cream.
Under this initiative, Purabi Dairy aims to establish approximately 15 such booths across Guwahati city and adjoining markets over the next 3-6 months, generating employment opportunities for local communities.
These pre-fabricated booths, a first in Northeast for milk distribution, are designed to maintain the cold chain for dairy products effectively.
Combining modern aesthetics with operational efficiency, they operate under the Company Owned Franchisee Operated (COFO) model, offering a unique business opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs.
Additionally, select Mother Dairy products are also available.
The unveiling ceremony witnessed the presence of WAMUL Managing Director SB Bose, GM SK Parida, Marketing Head SM Hussain, and CFO Chirag Sevak.
Speaking on the occasion, Bose highlighted Purabi Dairy’s commitment to empowering farmers and delivering top-quality products to consumers.
“The dairy has brought in positive transformation into the lives of thousands of our farmers and customers alike. Purabi Dairy remains dedicated to producing high-quality dairy products that meet the expectations of our consumers,” he said.
Bose highlighted the visionary Assam Dairy Development Plan, spearheaded by Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, as the driving force behind the introduction of modern milk booths.
