GUWAHATI: Vastu expert and author, Khushdeep Bansal, faced arrest by the Delhi Police’s counter-intelligence unit over alleged financial improprieties amounting to Rs. 65 crore in Assam.
Reportedly, the accusations against Bansal and his associates revolve around the alleged embezzlement of government funds through falsified work orders, as per police statements.
In a swift operation, raids were conducted at Bansal’s residence in Sainik Farm, New Delhi, on February 5. Following this, on Tuesday, Bansal and his brother Harish were detained from Barakhamba Road in the capital.
The Assam Police had previously alerted Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora about Bansal’s presence in Sainik Farm and the existence of a non-bailable warrant against him.
Notably, five individuals, including the son of a Congress leader in Madhya Pradesh, are implicated in the Rs. 65 crore Autonomous Council scam in Assam, for which the Gauhati High Court had issued a search warrant.
The investigation into the matter was instigated after Kamal Sabarwal, the proprietor of Delhi-based Sabarwal Trading Company Private Limited, filed a complaint in 2022.
Upon the Assam Police’s intervention, Bansal was swiftly placed under transit remand for further questioning.
In his initial questioning, Bansal reportedly distanced himself from direct involvement in fraudulent activities, claiming familiarity with only two individuals associated with the irregularities.
However, police sources, while speaking to a news agency, hinted deeper connections and a broader network in the Assam scam.
Bansal’s notoriety extends from his bold claims in 1997, alleging structural flaws in the Parliament House library, which he suggested were detrimental to the central government.
These claims purportedly led to the implementation of ‘Vastu changes.’
Beyond his controversial claims, Bansal is recognised for his literary contributions, boasting numerous authored books, and serves as an advisor to industrialists and celebrities alike.
