Imphal: The Public Works Department (PWD) of Manipur has invited bids for construction of a Greater Ring Road project in Imphal.
Estimated to cost for the Imphal Ring Road project has been set at Rs 350 crore, with a completion period of 36 months. The last date for bid submissions is on January 3, 2023.
Officials of Manipur PWD told Northeast News that the contracts for the Imphal Ring Road will also involve a five-year operation and maintenance works.
The Imphal Ring Road project has been conceptualized to address the incremental and perpetual traffic congestion of Imphal City and provide a logical solution for the Urban Transport Management of the capital city.
The growth rate of vehicle registration in the last five years averages about 46 per cent annually in Manipur, and it has added to the problem of traffic congestions, especially in Imphal.
On November 10, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has approved Rs 4,500 crore for the highly ambitious Guwahati Ring Road project.
The Guwahati Ring Road will include a six-lane bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Kuruwa with Narengi. Total length of the Guwahati Ring Road will be around 91 km.
