SHILLONG: Actor Rajkumar Rao believes Shillong can be an amazing location for shooting Bollywood blockbusters.
Calling the capital his “hometown”, the son-in-law of Meghalaya, was all praise for the city when he visited Shillong on Tuesday.
Talking to the press, he stressed that of late, quite a few popular Bollywood films have been shot in the state and exuded hope that many more will choose Meghalaya as a location for their films.
“Anek (the movie) has been shot here; Rock On also happened here. I think Shillong and Meghalaya, in general, are great locations for film shoots. I wish I could come here for work and shoot. But unfortunately, none of the projects I am currently on will give me that chance,” he said.
Rao was accompanied by his actor wife, Patralekha Paul, who being born and raised in Shillong, couldn’t agree more with her husband.
“Yes, there is a certain comfort in Shillong. The warmth of the people is palpable here,” she chimed in.
The actor couple was in the city for the opening of Rao’s brother-in-law’s café at Police Bazaar.
“Shillong is my second home, I always love coming back here, we have this beautiful cafe now and we want all the people, the locals and tourists alike, to come enjoy the cafe as it’s one-of-its-kind,” said the Bheed actor.
Patralekha also hinted that the café may soon become a stage for young talents in the city to perform. “We all believe Shillong is the rock capital of the country and our youth is immensely talented. We hope to give them a place to perform,” she added.
