Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal took a sharp jibe on Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, asserting that any individual involved in conspiratorial activities against the country must be condemned.
Sonowal said, “Any person who engages in conspiratorial activities against the nation is always deserving of condemnation. The allegations levelled against Gaurav Gogoi today, of being involved in anti-national activities, are reprehensible.”
“Now, Gaurav Gogoi must prove his innocence, since the Government of India cannot forgive any force that works against the nation. That is a clear fact,” he added.

Sonowal’s remarks comes following Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made series of allegations concerning Gogoi’s wife, claiming she had initially worked with an organisation in Pakistan and continued to receive salary from Pakistan even after relocating to India following her marriage.
Defending the state government’s actions, CM Sarma said that the authorities were duty-bound to investigate all dimensions of the issue, particularly when it involved public representatives and matters of national interest.
The Union Minister made the remarks while attending an important organisational meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Dibrugarh, held as part of preparations ahead of the upcoming elections.
According to party sources, the meeting also focused on arrangements for the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP’s newly appointed national president Nitin Nabin, who are scheduled to visit Dibrugarh on February 18 and 19.
