The Cachar district administration responded promptly and initiated coordination with authorities in Meghalaya following the tragic incident at Mynsyngat Village in East Jaintia Hills district, where an illegal coal mine explosion claimed the lives of 18 miners.
As per reports, search and rescue operations are currently underway at the site.
Senior officials including Roktim Baruah, ADC & CEO, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Cachar, along with the Circle Officer, Katigorah, and Field Officers (DM) from Katigorah and Silchar who will oversee the situation have proceeded to the incident site o coordinate response measures on the ground.
The 1st Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has also confirmed the deployment of its teams to the incident site in Meghalaya. In addition to Team-01, two more NDRF teams are have been sent from Guwahati to strengthen rescue and relief efforts.

Cachar District Commissioner (DC) Aayush Garg, through a social media post informed that two additional teams of the NDRF had been dispatched from Guwahati to aid the relief and rescue operations.
DC Aayush Garg wrote, “The situation is being closely monitored and necessary administrative support is being provided. There is no cause for panic at this stage.”
