Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri team up for Netflix comedy thriller Maa Behen, with Ravi Kishan joining the cast.
The streaming platform announced the project on Tuesday during an event unveiling its India release for 2026. Social media influencer Dharna Durga is also part of the movie.
“Maa Behen” is about a conservative neighbourhood that is shaken when a mother, Rekha, and her two daughters, Jaya and Sushma, discover a neighbour’s body in their kitchen.
What begins as a family dispute quickly spirals into a cover‑up, blending crime, domestic tension and uneasy laughter as the trio confront buried secrets and long‑simmering resentments.
Directed by Suresh Triveni, the film explores how this unexpected event turns the mother-daughter trio into the talk of the town.
Madhuri Dixit plays Rekha, the mother at the centre of the storm, reuniting with Netflix after projects such as The Fame Game and underscoring her recent shift to character‑driven streaming work.
The film is produced by Vikram Malhotra and Suresh Triveni under Abundantia Entertainment, in association with Opening Image Films. The story has been penned by Triveni and Pooja Tolani, with Tolani also handling the screenplay and dialogues.
Dixit was captivated by the film’s dark-comedy tone and its compelling script.
“When Sureshji came to me with the script, I was immediately interested because I’m a big admirer of him and his work. When he narrated the story, it felt like a story of a dysfunctional family, and I really enjoyed listening to it,” Madhuri said.

“I wanted to do it because I haven’t done a comedy in a long time. That was the main reason. Once we all came together on set, the camaraderie and the understanding were amazing, it was immediate,” she added.
