Guwahati: Around 40 elderly women from Matri Niwas Old Age Home in Mathgharia and the Government Old Age Home in Sonapur were provided free medical treatment at Peerless Hospital Guwahati on February 4 through an initiative supported by Garima Saikia Garg.
Peerless Hospital Guwahati bore the full cost of the programme, including transportation, medical consultations, diagnostic tests and medicines.
The visit was coordinated by Garima Saikia Garg, who facilitated access to healthcare for the residents of the two old age homes.
Specialist doctors and technical staff at the hospital conducted comprehensive health check-ups, following which necessary treatment and medicines were provided free of cost to all beneficiaries.
Peerless Hospital Guwahati CEO Dr Gautam Kumar Das said the hospital remains committed to making healthcare accessible, particularly for senior citizens, and will continue to support similar outreach programmes.

Garima Saikia Garg said the initiative was aimed at ensuring that elderly mothers living in old age homes receive timely medical attention and care.
She thanked the hospital for its cooperation in making the programme possible.
February 4 holds personal significance for Garg as it marks her marriage anniversary with late Zubeen Garg, who passed away in September last year. She chose to observe the day by associating it with a humanitarian cause.
The initiative was widely appreciated as a step towards improving access to healthcare for elderly residents of old age homes, with Peerless Hospital Guwahati reiterating its commitment to community welfare.
