New Delhi: India and Kyrgyzstan will conduct a joint military exercise in Assam from February 4 to 17 as part of ongoing efforts to deepen defence cooperation and improve operational synergy between the two countries.
The 13th edition of the bilateral drill, known as Exercise Khanjar, will be hosted at Misamari and will bring together special forces contingents from both nations.
Officials said the exercise will concentrate on enhancing interoperability through joint training in urban warfare and counter-terrorism operations, in line with United Nations peacekeeping mandates.

The Indian Army said the exercise is aimed at strengthening mutual understanding, sharing best practices and building a higher level of operational coordination between the two forces.
It is also expected to further consolidate the long-standing military partnership between India and Kyrgyzstan.
Exercise Khanjar has been held regularly since its launch in 2011 and has developed into an annual engagement, with the venue alternating between the two countries.
The previous edition of the exercise was conducted in Kyrgyzstan in March 2025.
Officials said the rotating host format reflects the growing strategic trust and cooperation between India and Kyrgyzstan in the defence and security domain.
