Itanagar: The much-awaited Pangsau Pass International Festival in Arunachal Pradesh is scheduled to take place from January 20 to 22 at the historic Pangsau Pass, one of Asia’s most iconic mountain passes located along the Indo-Myanmar border.

The three-day international festival aims to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the region while promoting cross-border friendship, tourism and people-to-people ties. A variety of cultural programmes showcasing traditional dances, music and indigenous art forms from different communities are expected to be the major attractions of the event.

“From the historic Pangsau Pass—where civilizations met, cultures flowed, and borders blurred—comes a celebration of shared heritage, music, and traditions. The Pangsau Pass International Festival is more than an event; it is a bridge between histories and hearts,” Chief Minister Pema Khandu said in a post on X.

Along with the cultural celebrations, the festival will also mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. The commemoration will pay tribute to the sacrifices made during the war and to those involved in the construction of the historic Stilwell Road.

The observance seeks to honour the legacy of that significant period in history and reaffirm a shared commitment to peace, cooperation and mutual understanding among nations.

Over the years, the Pangsau Pass International Festival has emerged as an important symbol of historical remembrance and international goodwill, attracting participants and visitors from across India and abroad.
