Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Rural Works Department Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona on Sunday cautioned contractors executing road projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and the Vibrant Village Programme (VVP) against delays, stating that the government would not tolerate time overruns or substandard work.
Reviewing the progress of PMGSY and VVP road works at a circle-level meeting held at Rupa in West Kameng district, the minister said the projects are critical for improving rural connectivity and ensuring public convenience.
He stressed that all works must be completed within the stipulated timeframe and in accordance with prescribed quality norms, officials said.
Sona said the department has put in place a strict accountability mechanism to ensure transparent and smooth execution of the projects.

He noted that formal agreements have already been signed between the department and contractors, binding them to complete works within the approved timelines and quality standards.
Making the government’s position clear, the minister warned that contractors who fail to deliver on time would face stringent action.
He said such contractors would be removed from ongoing projects and barred from participating in future tenders.
Emphasising the importance of the schemes, Sona said PMGSY and VVP roads serve as vital links for villages, adding that the government’s priority is to deliver durable infrastructure in the public interest through efficiency, transparency and accountability.
