Imphal: Manipur Police on Wednesday arrested three active cadres of the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL–SOREPA) from different locations in Imphal West district.
The arrested militants were identified as Keithelakpam Telheiba Mangang alias Thoiba or Lamyanba (23) of Kwakeithel Heinou Khongnembi in Imphal West district, Konthoujam Gooddy Meitei alias Phirepa (23) of Bishnupur Ward No. 10 in Bishnupur district, and Laishram Ichan Devi alias Sangita (30) of Wabagai Terapishak in Kakching district, currently residing at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai.
Police said Keithelakpam Telheiba Mangang was arrested from Kangabam Leikai, Konthoujam Gooddy Meitei from Kwakeithel Thokchom Leikai, and Laishram Ichan Devi from Kwakeithel Bazar.
During the operation, police recovered three mobile phones, four SIM cards, cash amounting to Rs 6,000 and a Yamaha motorcycle from the accused.
According to police, the arrested cadres were involved in recruiting new members, carrying out extortion activities in the valley districts, and providing logistical support to the banned outfit.
The police said further investigation is underway to trace other members of the outfit and to ascertain the extent of their involvement in unlawful activities.

In a separate operation, security forces destroyed illicit poppy cultivation spread over 65 acres in the Govok hill range of Chandel district as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal narcotics production in the state.
