Imphal: Security forces arrested three militants and recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition in separate operations across Manipur, police said on Monday.
According to the statement, an operative of the banned PREPAK outfit, allegedly involved in extortion, was arrested from Ngaikhong Khullen in Bishnupur district on Sunday. Two guns, 13 cartridges, a hand grenade, and two walkie-talkie sets were seized from him.
In another operation, an active cadre of the proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF–Koireng) faction was apprehended from Kadangband in Imphal West district. A militant belonging to the banned KYKL group was also arrested from Kharason in Imphal East, the same day.
Police said search operations and area-domination exercises were carried out across fringe and vulnerable pockets of several districts, leading to multiple recoveries of weapons.

During one such operation at the IVR of Tharoijam Awang Leikai in Imphal West on Sunday, security forces recovered two single-barrel guns, five pistols with a magazine, an air pistol, 11 magazines, three grenades, six detonators, and 50 rounds of assorted ammunition.
