GUWAHATI: The skies over Borjhar roared as Guwahati witnessed a spectacular aerial display at the Air Force Station on Sunday, as the Indian Air Force (IAF) celebrated its 91st anniversary in grand style.

The event, part of HQ Eastern Air Command’s outreach initiative, featured an awe-inspiring demonstration of flying skill, precision, and professionalism, leaving a lasting impression on hundreds of spectators, including civil, state, and defence dignitaries, children, and the general public.

The occasion was graced by Air Marshal SP Dharkar PVSM AVSM, the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, as the chief guest. The aerial display included the presence of various aircraft, including ALH, Dornier, Rafale, and SU 30, performing intricate formation flying.

Following the event, Air Marshal SP Dharkar expressed his pride, stating, the event highlighted some of IAF’s latest additions, including the Rafale. “It was indeed a spectacle, and we believe that everyone enjoyed the air show. We, in the Air Force, take immense pride in what we have presented today. Our continual endeavor will be to uphold the expectations our nation holds for us,” he told the press.

The celebrated SARANG Helicopter Display Team, renowned for their intricate aerial manoeuvres, played a central role in the day’s festivities. Additionally, the event featured formidable aircraft, such as the ALH, Chinook, Dornier and Su-30, among others.

The celebrations also marked the induction of the C295 transport aircraft into the IAF’s fleet. The C295, with its advanced capabilities, is set to significantly enhance the IAF’s transport operations.

Furthermore, the delivery of the first LCA Tejas Twin Seater aircraft by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) added another feather to the IAF’s cap.
