Imphal: In a shocking incident, seven employees of Manipur State Power Company Limited were allegedly attacked by unidentified individuals at a sub-station in Churachandpur district, an official said on Monday.
The company strongly condemned the “brutal assault” on its staff.
“Seven employees, including the officer in charge of the 33/11 kV sub-station at Tuila, were assaulted by unidentified miscreants on October 18 within the sub-station premises. The motive behind the attack is currently unknown,” the official added.
The power utility called for a prompt and transparent probe, urging the authorities to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
More than 260 people have been killed and thousands rendered homeless in ethnic violence between Meiteis and Kuki-Zo groups since May 2023.

The Centre imposed President’s Rule in Manipur on February 13, 2025, following the resignation of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh amid escalating ethnic violence and political instability.
The state assembly, which has a tenure till 2027, has been put under suspended animation.
