Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday issued an apology after mistakenly referring to the ruling BJP’s ally, the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), as an outlawed group during a rally in Bihar on Saturday (October 18).
While addressing a gathering at Ramnagar in Bihar to mark the filing of nomination papers by two BJP candidates, Saha had mentioned that members of the outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT), All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF), and IPFT had surrendered to return to normal life.
Clarifying his remarks, the Chief Minister took to Facebook, stating, “While addressing in Bihar (on Saturday), I inadvertently referred to IPFT like NLFT and ATTF. As soon as the matter came to my knowledge, I called up IPFT president Prem Kumar Reang and tendered my apology for the unintentional mistake.”
In the public meeting in Bihar, CM Saha expressed confidence about the prospects of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Bihar Assembly elections slated for November 6 and 11.
During his address in support of BJP candidates contesting from the Ramnagar and Bagaha Assembly constituencies in Bihar, the chief minister said that while different government schemes and initiatives helped farmers in Bihar, Tripura too is walking towards development and progress under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Saha also said Tripura witnessed terrorism and unrest in the past, but all terrorists and insurgents have surrendered, and the state is now terrorism-free. He added that the wave of change started in 2018, when the BJP first came to power in the state.
