Guwahati: Renowned conservation scientist and Secretary General of Aaranyak, Dr. Bibhab Kumar Talukdar, was honoured with a ‘Certificate of Commendation for Dedication and Service’ by the Assam Forest Department on Tuesday (October 8).
The award was presented during the state-level celebration of ‘Wildlife Week 2025’ held at the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra auditorium in Guwahati.
The event was attended by Assam Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, along with senior officials of the department, including PCCF and HoFF Sandeep Kumar, and PCCF (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden Dr. Vinay Gupta. The ceremony also saw the presence of several retired officers, forest staff, conservationists, and environmental workers.
Dr. Talukdar received the commendation in recognition of his exceptional dedication, commitment, and remarkable contributions to the protection, preservation, and management of wildlife.
“His work has substantially advanced the scientific foundation and applied practice of conservation,” the citation reads.

Expressing his gratitude, Dr. Talukdar said, “It has been a great opportunity and privilege to work with officials of the Assam Forest Department for over 35 years in our constant endeavour to complement the department’s conservation efforts. Recognition of my efforts by the Assam Forest Department will further enhance my zeal to work in tandem with the department to achieve the common goals of conservation in Assam. I offer my sincere sense of gratitude.”
