Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Sunday attended the closing ceremony of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) at the Divine Retreat Centre in Kerala, where he called on young people to lead with courage, compassion, and integrity.
The Holy Mass marking the occasion was celebrated by Cardinal Felipe Neri Ferrao of Goa, who also serves as the President of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI).
Congratulating ICYM for completing 25 years of service and leadership, Sangma lauded the movement for shaping “leaders of integrity” and fostering “a culture of compassion and service.”
He urged the youth to be “beacons of hope” and to stand firm in their values while promoting truth, justice, and kindness.
“Let this Jubilee be the fire that reignites your spirit, the challenge that sharpens your purpose, and the call that sets your feet in motion,” Sangma said in his address.
“Lead with boldness, serve with humility, and shine with the light of Christ.”
Emphasizing the role of youth in a rapidly changing digital era, he encouraged them to harness technology for positive change, promote social entrepreneurship, and work towards uplifting marginalised communities.

“The digital age should be used to build, not break. Leverage global connections to think big and act locally,” the chief minister said, adding that the young generation has a vital role to play in transforming the Church, the country, and the world.
Sangma also congratulated the ICYM leadership for its contribution to empowering Catholic youth and promoting faith-driven service over the past 25 years.
