Guwahati: E-commerce giant Amazon has doubled its same-day and next-day deliveries in Assam, alongside a surge in demand for premium fashion and beauty products, the company announced.
Pallavi Singh, senior manager for Amazon Prime India, said Guwahati remains the biggest driver of this growth, with luxury watches and beauty items registering a 30 per cent year-on-year rise.
Jewellery sales in Assam have also grown by 20 per cent, led by traditional Assamese designs.
“In the run-up to Durga Puja, searches for complete beauty looks rise sharply, while the wedding season boosts sales of luxury beauty and contemporary jewellery,” Singh said.
Other categories popular among buyers include smartphones, consumer electronics, home and kitchen products, groceries and daily essentials.
Amazon said more than 10,000 sellers from Assam now use its platform to reach customers nationwide, with products ranging from home items to groceries and toys.

The company has also expanded its operations network in the state with a new fulfilment centre, a sortation centre, over 200 ‘I Have Space’ partner stores and more than 50 delivery stations.
“These investments have enabled Amazon to deliver more than twice as many products year-on-year within the same day or the next day in Guwahati,” Singh said, adding that hundreds of jobs have been created in the region.
The company is now gearing up for its flagship ‘Amazon Great Indian Festival’ beginning September 23, promising the widest selection, faster deliveries and exclusive benefits for Prime members, including 24-hour early access and special offers.
