Agartala: The two-day-long eighth session of the 13th Tripura Legislative Assembly will commence on September 19 and conclude on September 23.

Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu has summoned the Tripura Assembly session. As Speaker Biswabandhu Sen is unwell, the proceedings will be presided over by Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Paul.

This was announced by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Monday.

The two-day session has been scheduled keeping in mind the upcoming Durga Puja festival and the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the state on September 22.

The decision on the agenda was finalized during the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting, chaired by Paul and attended by representatives from the BJP, CPI (M), and Tipra Motha Party.

Four key bills will be tabled during the session—the Tripura State Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, the Tripura Jana Viswas (Amendment) Provision Bill, the Factories Bill, and the Tripura Shops and Establishments (Seventh Amendment) Bill.

On September 19, the Tripura Assembly Session will begin with Question Hour, followed by the introduction of bills. The concluding sitting on September 23 will focus on detailed discussions and debates.

Due to Prime Minister Modi’s scheduled visit on September 22, there will be no House sitting on that day. The session will resume the next day.

In addition to government business, three private members’ resolutions will be discussed. BJP MLAs Dipak Majumder and Ram Pada Jamatia, along with one CPI (M) legislator, have been allotted opportunities to move their resolutions through balloting.
