Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday handed over AI-based reading devices to students of the Donyi Polo Mission School for the Hearing and Visually Impaired.
The chief minister distributed the ‘KIBO’ devices to students of the school located at Chimpu.
“Very happy to hand over KIBO, a powerful AI-driven reading device, to the students of Donyi Polo Mission School for the Hearing and Visually Impaired,” CM Khandu posted on X.
With KIBO, our children can now access printed, handwritten, and digital content on their own, in their own language, and at their own pace, he added.
The chief minister also thanked the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment and Trestle Labs for turning vision into reality.
“Because real progress happens when innovation meets compassion, and when no one is left behind,” he said.
The Donyi Polo Mission School for the Hearing and Visually Impaired was established in the year 1990 by former chief minister Gegong Apang.

In recognition of its contribution to inclusive education, the Arunachal Pradesh government recently increased the school’s annual grant-in-aid to Rs 2 crore and announced a Rs 5 crore corpus fund for long-term sustainability.
