Imphal: Manipur police have arrested 10 persons for their involvement in the trafficking of drugs in the state.
On March 29, the police arrested four individuals involved in illegal poppy cultivation from Songjang village in Manipur‘s Kangpokpi district.
The arrested cultivators were identified as Janggoulen Kipgen (41), Letginlal Kipgen (41), Kamginlen Kipgen (25), and Thangminlen Kipgen (34).
The arrests were made in connection with a case registered at Kangpokpi police station regarding the illegal cultivation of poppy.

In another significant crackdown on drug trafficking on March 29, the Sate Police arrested six individuals in connection with a case registered at Kangpokpi Police Station.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Khaikahao Kipgen, also known as John (40), Letgoumang Touthang, also known as Amon (33), Aabi Baral (28), Jitten Kharka (22), L H Ranirou (42), and Leah Chao (44).

The operation resulted in the seizure of 174 soap cases of suspected brown sugar, a highly potent and dangerous narcotic.
Police also seized a four-wheeler believed to have been used in the drug trafficking operation.
During an operation in Tengnoupal district, 3 heavy mortar launchers (country made), 5 metal IED, one IED, 5kg of plastic IED, one 7.62mm country made pistol with magazine, one 7.65mm pistol with magazine, four AK-47 ammunition, six SLR ammunition, six 12 bore ammunition, 200grams of gunpowder, two helmets, two BPJ harness from Molnom-Senam area were recovered on Saturday.

Besides, five metal IEDs and one plastic IED were also destroyed in situ, and remnants were deposited at the Tengnoupal police station.
