Kochi: A 28-year-old migrant worker from Assam, accused in a theft case in Meghalaya and on the run for two years, was apprehended in Perumbavoor, Kerala, police confirmed on Saturday.
The accused, identified as Ranjan Boro Gain, a native of Dibrugarh, Assam, had previously escaped police custody in 2020 after being arrested in connection with a theft case registered at Nongpoh Police Station in Meghalaya’s Ri Bhoi district.
The arrest was the result of a meticulously planned operation led by Perumbavoor ASP Shakti Singh Arya, following a tip-off received by District Police Chief Vaibhav Saxena.
The investigation team tracked Gain to a plywood factory in the Vallam area of Perumbavoor, where he had been employed while evading authorities.
