Guwahati: Auriga Research Pvt Ltd, a leading multidisciplinary testing lab, has announced two landmark agreements aimed at enhancing laboratory facilities and tea testing infrastructure in Assam.
The company has partnered with the Government of Assam to establish a cutting-edge testing laboratory for food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, Ayurveda, and medical devices.
According to Auriga Research, the state-of-the-art facility will be set up in either Guwahati or Dibrugarh, with operations expected to commence within nine months.
The lab will serve domestic businesses and export-oriented industries, ensuring adherence to both national and international quality standards.
Additionally, Auriga Research has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tea Research Association (TRA) to upgrade Assam’s tea testing capabilities.
Despite Assam accounting for nearly 50% of India’s total tea exports, small tea growers and Bought Leaf Factories (BLFs) face challenges accessing affordable, high-quality testing and regulatory compliance services.
These agreements were formalised during the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025, which also spotlighted Assam’s growing importance as an investment destination.
Commenting on these initiatives, Saurabh Arora, Managing Director of Auriga Research, emphasised the company’s commitment to advancing quality and safety standards across sectors.
“With our four decades of expertise in testing, inspection, and certification, we aim to set new benchmarks in the food, pharmaceutical, and medical device industries,” he said.
Arora highlighted the significance of the partnership with TRA, stating, “This collaboration will unlock new opportunities for tea growers and exporters. It will enable small and mid-sized producers to meet global safety and quality standards, solidifying Assam’s reputation as a global tea leader.”

The Government of Assam will provide policy support, expedite clearances, and facilitate smooth implementation of the projects.
The initiative is expected to enhance Assam’s tea export potential to key markets such as the European Union, the United States, and the Middle East.
Auriga Research will also support TRA in organising training programs for tea cultivators, introducing structured quality monitoring systems, and aiding the broader food processing industries in Northeast India.
These efforts aim to foster sustainable growth and global competitiveness for Assam’s key industries.
