Imphal: Senior BJP leader Sambit Patra met with Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday morning, according to sources.
The two held discussions for an undisclosed period, though the details of the meeting have not yet been made public.
Patra, who serves as the BJP’s Northeast in-charge, then proceeded to a local hotel, where he is expected to meet with party MLAs later in the day.
On Tuesday, a BJP delegation led by Patra had also met Governor Bhalla at Raj Bhavan in the wake of the leadership crisis triggered by the resignation of N Biren Singh as chief minister on February 9, following months of ethnic violence in the state.
Meanwhile, BJP MLA Karam Shyam addressed concerns on Wednesday, asserting that there is “no constitutional crisis” following Singh’s resignation.

Shyam expressed confidence that the ongoing issues in the state would be resolved with the support of the Centre and the involvement of local legislators.
He stated, “I don’t know about the President’s Rule, but I believe the problem will be resolved with the Centre’s intervention and the cooperation of the legislators. There is no constitutional crisis in Manipur.”
The state has been grappling with ethnic violence between the Meitei community in Imphal Valley and the Kuki-Zo groups in the adjoining hills since May 2023, resulting in over 250 deaths and leaving thousands homeless.
