Kohima: The Business Association of Nagas (BAN), in collaboration with the Nagaland Tourism Department, is all set to host the Nagaland International Conference on Tourism, Transport, and Logistics.
The conference, themed ‘Empowering Nagaland, India through Connectivity and Sustainable Development,’ will be held at Niathu Resort, Chümoukedima, on February 7 and 8.
The event is being organized by BAN’s Transport & Logistic Committee with support from the Ministry of MSME.
The two-day event will bring together stakeholders from across India and Southeast Asia to discuss sustainable development, infrastructure, and opportunities for collaboration in Nagaland’s tourism, transport, and logistics sectors.
The conference also aims to promote entrepreneurship and attract investment opportunities in Nagaland’s growing tourism sector through sustainable and technology-driven solutions
Zubeno Mozhui, Convener of BAN’s Tourism Standing Committee, announced the introduction of Tourism Excellence Awards that will be presented in three categories— Best Eco-Friendly Accommodation or Resort, Best Community Conservation Practice, and Best Tour Operator.
BAN adviser and former Nagaland Tourism Secretary Thangi Menon said, “Nagaland’s strength lies in its community, nature, and culture. By focusing on these aspects, we can promote responsible and sustainable tourism.”
She said that Nagaland’s rich natural and cultural heritage are the key tourism assets.
According to her, Nagaland can offer a distinct experience for visitors seeking to learn about the state’s biodiversity, culture and way of life.
The conference will also have a special workshop on leveraging digital tools by for stakeholders in the tourism industry, including hotels, homestays, tour operators, travel agencies, and event organizers.
These sessions will focus on the use of digital tools and technologies by local entrepreneurs, who are in the tourism business.
Inoto Kinimi, co-convenor of NICTTL, said the conference aims to address infrastructure challenges and market access through collaboration between government, private sector,s and global experts.
“This platform will encourage entrepreneurs, investors, and startups to connect and create new business opportunities in the tourism sector,” Kinimi added.
Benthungo Kithan, Convener of BAN’s MSME Committee, stated that the conference would include a session on funding opportunities for local entrepreneurs where experts from SIDBI, SBI, NSIC, and Government e-Marketplace (GeM Portal), would speak on available financial schemes and guide entrepreneurs on how to access funding.

Akum Jamir, Convener of BAN’s Credit Committee, described the conference as an ideal platform for educated unemployed youth to explore business opportunities.
Jamir also highlighted the need for improved digital resources for tourists, suggesting opportunities for developing pre-booking apps for homestays, taxis, and self-driven bikes, as well as services for adventure camping.
The BAN’s Credit Committee acts as a liaison with banks, facilitating access to funding for promising business plans and innovative ideas.
