Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced on Saturday that 400 athletes from the state will participate in 19 sports disciplines at the upcoming 38th National Games in Uttarakhand.
Extending his heartfelt best wishes to the athletes, Singh expressed pride in the large number of players representing Manipur.
He acknowledged the recent challenges in the state that may have disrupted their training routines but stressed that true success is born from overcoming adversity.
Singh also pointed out Manipur’s global reputation for its outstanding contributions to sports, art, and culture, emphasising that the state has produced 19 Olympians.
To celebrate the achievements of these athletes, the government has established the Manipur Olympian Park at Sangaithel.

In addition, the chief minister revealed that the state government, during a recent cabinet meeting in Tamenglong, had in principle decided to offer government jobs to National Games gold medallists.
Singh reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure, including the ongoing Rs. 7 crore renovation of the state’s velodrome.
With continued investment in modern facilities and equipment, Singh assured that Manipur’s athletes are being fully supported and prepared for both national and international competitions.
