Kohima: The Hnahsin Kut Champhai 2024 festival, a celebration of the blooming cosmos flowers, commenced at Aui Garden in Mizoram’s Champhai on Friday.
The festival was inaugurated by Adviser to Chief Minister for Planning & Finance TBC Lalvenchhunga.
Lalvenchhunga hailed the Champhai Nature Conservancy and government officials for their unwavering dedication in organizing the festival.
He also acknowledged the contributions of former Champhai community leaders in safeguarding and preserving the region’s natural beauty.
The festvail aims to create a platform to showcase and market the tourist attractions in Champhai, to promote and develop tourism in Champhai District and provide livelihood generation opportunities for the local communities.
The festival also aims to boost Mizoram’s tourist market competitiveness, particularly Champhai, by addressing the needs of tourists and travellers.
Additionally, it also seeks to support local entrepreneurs, florists, farmers, artisans, musicians, and handloom and handicraft creators by providing them with a venue to display and sell their crafts, generating additional livelihoods opportunities.
The Hnahsik Kut festival, which will be held from October 4 to 18, promises a vibrant celebration with a host of activities.
The festival, organized by various associations under the Champhai Nature Conservancy, features a range of activities including flower exhibition, cycle rally, paragliding, cosplay, photo exhibition, musical evening, among others.
Self Help Groups from the Mizoram State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MzSRLM) will also showcase their work and products, furthering the festival’s goal of empowering the local community.
