Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday congratulated Jishnu Dev Varma on his appointment as the Governor of Maharashtra, describing it as a proud moment for the state.
According to an official notification issued on Thursday, Dev Varma, who currently serves as the Governor of Telangana, has been appointed the new Governor of Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, the current Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla, has been assigned the role of Governor of Telangana, replacing Dev Varma.
Notably, Dev Varma had earlier served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura in the government led by former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb before being appointed Governor of Telangana.
Dev Varma, who hails from Tripura, received warm wishes from leaders in the state following the announcement.
“Heartiest congratulations to Shri Jishnu Dev Varma Ji on his appointment as Governor of #Maharashtra. His vast experience and dedication to public service will surely guide the state towards progress and prosperity. Wishing him every success in this new role,” CM Saha wrote in apost on X.
Tripura’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhury also welcomed the development, calling it another proud moment for the state. In a Facebook post, he congratulated Dev Varma on his new responsibility.

Speaker-in-charge of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Rampada Jamatia, also extended his greetings to Dev Varma, wishing him success and well-being in his new role.
