Agartala: The Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress (TPYC) has called on Chief Minister Manik Saha to release a detailed white paper outlining government sector employment figures during the past seven years of BJP rule in the state.

At a press conference on Saturday, TPYC leader Sahajahan Islam criticised the state government for issuing conflicting data on job creation and accused the chief minister of providing inconsistent figures in recent public statements.

“On December 18, 2024, the Chief Minister claimed that 13,000 posts were filled. Then, on April 28, 2025, he stated that 16,942 jobs had been given. Most recently, just two days ago, he claimed 19,262 positions were filled,” Islam said. “These contradictions are confusing and raise serious questions about transparency.”

Islam further noted that based on these figures, nearly 6,000 appointments appear to have been made in just the last few months, which he said warrants clarity from the government.

“We urge the Chief Minister—who is known for maintaining a clean image—to release a white paper on state government employment from the past seven years to address growing doubts and public concern,” he added.

The TPYC also highlighted the broader unemployment crisis in Tripura, pointing out that with a population of around 42 lakh, the state has approximately 7 lakh unemployed youths.

“The youth of Tripura are desperately searching for government jobs, but the BJP government continues to delay recruitment processes. In many cases, selections are not completed even after two to three years,” Islam alleged.

He concluded with a warning, stating that the Youth Congress would launch public demonstrations if their demand for a white paper is not addressed.

“Our organisation has always stood by the unemployed youth, and we are prepared to take to the streets if necessary,” Islam said.
