Agartala: The Border Security Force (BSF), in a joint operation with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), seized yaba tablets worth around Rs 16 crore from Tripura’s Sepahijala district, officials said on Monday.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs about the storage of a large quantity of yaba tablets at the residence of one Lipiyara Khatun (33), wife of Amal Hussain, a resident of Madhya Boxanagar under the Kalamchoura police station, the BSF and NCB launched a coordinated raid on Sunday night.
During the search, the joint team recovered 16 packets wrapped in brown tape buried inside the kitchen area of the house. Upon inspection, the packets were found to contain approximately 16 kilograms of yaba tablets, with an estimated market value of Rs16 crore, the BSF said in a statement.
Yaba — a combination of methamphetamine and caffeine — is a powerful and highly addictive stimulant commonly referred to as “crazy medicine” in Thai. Its key components are methamphetamine, a powerful and dangerous stimulant that affects the central nervous system and caffeine.

The house owner, Lipiyara Khatun, has been detained for questioning and handed over to the NCB for further legal action, the statement added.
