Agartala: Union Minister for Shipping, Ports and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal has said that Tripura will soon get connectivity through waterways.
Speaking at a press conference in Agartala, the Union Minister said that the central government is actively working on establishing waterway links to connect Tripura with Kolkata, Paradip, and Visakhapatnam via Bangladesh, enabling better access to international markets for Tripura’s agricultural products.
He said jetties are being installed in the Gomati River, which will connect Tripura to the Bay of Bengal via Bangladesh.
The union minister said, “We are constructing jetties along the Gomati River to strengthen Tripura’s access to global markets via the Bay of Bengal. These jetties will facilitate direct connections, not only through Bangladesh but also to Kolkata, Paradip, and Visakhapatnam.
