Agartala: The Tripura government is set to join hands with AIIMS-New Delhi to bolster healthcare infrastructure and services across the state, a senior official confirmed on Wednesday.
A four-member delegation from AIIMS-New Delhi, led by Director Dr. M. Srinivas, is scheduled to visit Tripura from June 7 for a two-day assessment and strategic planning mission.
“We are aiming to strengthen collaboration with AIIMS-New Delhi in the areas of research, healthcare delivery, and hospital management to bring comprehensive improvements to Tripura’s health sector,” said Health Secretary Kiran Gitte.
During the visit, the AIIMS team will meet with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and interact with key stakeholders at GBP Hospital and Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC).
Discussions will focus on identifying gaps in the current system and exploring pathways for infrastructure and service enhancement.
Deputy Medical Superintendent of GBP Hospital, Dr. Kanak Chowdhury, emphasized the significance of the visit.
“This collaboration could be a turning point for our state’s premier hospital. With around 2,000 OPD patients daily and the recent addition of seven super-specialty departments like neurosurgery and urology, we are poised for further growth,” he noted.
The AIIMS delegation will evaluate the existing facilities and provide expert recommendations to elevate service standards.
Dr. Chowdhury also highlighted the potential long-term benefits of the partnership, especially in terms of training and development opportunities for Tripura’s emerging healthcare professionals.
