Agartala: A three-member delegation of the Tipra Motha Party (TMP), led by its supremo Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, met AK Mishra, the Centre’s interlocutor for the ‘Tiprasa Accord’, in New Delhi to push for the immediate implementation of the agreement aimed at the development of Tripura’s tribal population, a party MLA said on Wednesday.
TMP MLA Ranjit Debbarma said the party may consider withdrawing from the BJP-led coalition government in Tripura if the Manik Saha government fails to act promptly on the accord.
At present, the TMP has one representative in the Manik Saha-led cabinet.
The Tipra Motha Party signed an agreement with the Centre and the state government in March last year, focusing on the comprehensive development and welfare of the tribal community in the northeastern state.
“A three-member TMP team headed by our chief Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma held a meeting with interlocutor AK Mishra in New Delhi on Tuesday. We categorically told him about the state government’s dilly-dallying attitude in order to implement the historic agreement,” MLA Ranjit Debbarma said.
He added that the TMP does not wish to meet the same fate as Assam’s United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), which, despite being an ally of the BJP, reportedly suffered losses in the recent Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections.
“The 125th constitutional amendment bill has not been passed in Parliament as promised by the BJP. If it is passed, it provides t provides for the administration of tribal areas in some northeastern states to safeguard the rights of the tribal population,” the MLA said.

The TMP delegation also raised the issue of 37 bills passed by the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) that remain pending with the state government.
“Mishra asked us to provide the list of pending bills, which we will submit to him on Wednesday,” Debbarma added.
