Agartala: The Tripura government on Tuesday signed two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with the Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust, paving the way for an investment of Rs 400 crore and collaboration to strengthen forest- and agriculture-based value chains in the state, officials said.
Under the agreements, the Patanjali group will invest in the agriculture and forest sectors, with a focus on promoting organic farming, value addition and the sustainable use of natural resources. The MoUs were signed between Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust and the state’s industries and forest departments.
Chief Minister Manik Saha was present at the signing ceremony. In a post on social media, he said he was pleased to witness the collaboration with Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust of Uttarakhand, describing it as a step towards investment and development across multiple sectors, including agro-forest value chains.
The chief minister said the partnership would create new opportunities and help boost the state’s economy while promoting sustainable development.
Industries and Commerce Director Deepak Kumar signed the MoU on behalf of the department, while Principal Chief Conservator of Forests R.K. Samal represented the forest department. Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust was represented by its CEO and Managing Director, Acharya Balkrishna.
Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, senior government officials and representatives of the Patanjali group also attended the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Balkrishna said the trust was keen to support Tripura’s development in multiple areas, including agriculture, religious tourism, information technology and skill development. He assured full cooperation to help develop Tripura as a model state in the coming years.
