Agartala: In a major boost to medical education in Tripura, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved 50 additional MBBS seats for Tripura Medical College (TMC) and Dr B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Teaching Hospital in Agartala, Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Tuesday.
With this approval, the annual intake at TMC has risen from 100 to 150 seats, taking the total number of MBBS seats across the state to 450.
Calling it a “significant milestone” for Tripura’s healthcare and education sectors, Saha said the state has added 225 MBBS seats in the past three years — a reflection of its ongoing efforts to strengthen medical infrastructure and expand healthcare access.
