Agartala: Tripura on Tuesday launched Cyber Security Policy, laying down a comprehensive framework to safeguard the state’s digital infrastructure, enhance institutional preparedness, and promote capacity building across government and private sectors.
The policy, unveiled by S. Krishnan, Secretary of the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, at Pragnya Bhavan, aims to build a secure and resilient cyberspace in the northeastern state.
Speaking at the launch, Krishnan said the initiative marks a crucial step toward protecting citizens and government data from cyber threats.
“The core objective of the Tripura Cyber Security Policy is to protect the citizens of Tripura from potential cyberattacks and ensure that their data remains secure. This is a significant move by the state, creating the foundation for decisive action against cybercrimes,” he said.
Krishnan added that the ministry is working to strengthen India’s cybersecurity ecosystem by developing systems that rely on verified data sources to prevent breaches and misuse of information.
The policy launch coincided with a workshop on the National Cyber Security Exercise, Cyber Bharat Setu: Bridging States, Securing Bharat, which focused on improving cyber awareness, preparedness, and response mechanisms.
The programme included expert-led sessions, hands-on simulations, and scenario-based drills designed to boost the state’s cyber resilience.
